F11 BMW 2012/13 buying advice
Discussion
Hi, I’m thinking of buying a 2012-13 f11 bmw. Mileage around 70-90km. 2 litre Diesel engine. Automatic
I’ve heard to go for the pro nav and Xenos where possible, I was just wondering about anything else to look for or check on these bar the usual car buying questions.
I’m not doing the mileage to justify a diesel but I want an auto bmw estate, and petrol very hard to come by.
Any help appreciated

If you're not doing the miles then why not get a petrol one, they're not as prolific but they're out there:

If you don't mind going down a size then you have much more choice.

Well I have an F11 on a 62 plate and its done 156K miles. My first worry is you say you are not doing the mileage to justify a diesel! If this means lots of short journeys then avoid diesel completely, if you just use a couple of days a week for 20+ miles every trip you should be OK. Mine is a 148PS not 184 manual , standard Nav and Halogens. I would suggest you get the updated Nav which is available from BMW and authoried re-sellers for about £70 as a download. I can't see much benefit to ProNav, I have bluetooth streaming etc. and if anything I want a taller screen for the Nav rather than wider. I don't even have uprated Halogens , just the standard and they are fine. Xenons may be nice but not essential. Note 2012-13 is still Euro 5 so no good in the future if you drive in London and big towns, post 2013 for Euro 6. Note the chains have the upgrade but this does not eliminate the possibility of chain failure which has tarnished the 2l diesels. These cars are not fast but you can make progress. I've found standard seats are fine but many will recommend the M sport trim and seats. On standard 17 and runflats the ride is great, again switch to 18s and many will recommend ditching the runflats. I love the auto open/close tailgate, fantastic for my dog holiday business. Great cars, I'll probably get another when I sell Barking Mad and retire but will go auto rather than manual.
Great - thanks for the reply!
I am definitely not doing the mileage, it’s a journey of around 20 round trip but sat in lots of traffic. I have a 2ltr diesel at the min and had no dpf issues. It’s our main family car so always do long trips on the weekend.
You think these cars wear their mileage well?

My 64 plate F11 520d M sport is coming up for 120K. Very comfortable (non-runflats now), great great ventilation and heating, much faster than you'd think in sport mode and 49.5 mpg with mostly motorway/A1 use with the cruise on in Eco Pro (because of the speed cameras). It looks like new inside and out, bar the odd scrape. In traffic the stop/start works well, the auto-hold is helpful too. Audio system is good, nav is decent - I don't have the widescreen one, but it's fine really. I can drive for hours in comfort, it's good enough when being hustled, and it's generally pretty relaxing in traffic being quiet inside. Not quite as quiet as my old X350 Jag, but very very close.
