I went to look at a quad today. It wasn't road-registered but I only need it for private use so this is fine.

It's a 2014 model with around 6000km on the clock.

The bodywork is a bit beat up.

Is there any way the mileage could have been adjusted?

6000km sounds quite a lot for a quad.

Depends on the quad 6000km is nothing really. Don't forget most of these are daily use on farms so can cover mega mileage.
What quad and price?

It’s a Honda TRX500 for 3,000. The bodywork is pretty scratched up so I don’t know if it could be older than I’m being told. It has no paperwork with it and isn’t road-registered. Not sure how I could check the manufacture year??

I’d be very careful if there’s no paperwork quads are often stolen so I’d want to see some proof of ownership. It would be worth doing a check on the chassis number, companies like datatag often hold details and if not the manufacturer maybe able to help.

Gumtree is awash with these blights on the road, you should be able to get one at half that price or less.

With quads there is only one golden rule...

Buy a Honda from a reputable dealer...

Don't encourage thefts of quads by buying a 2nd hand one from a guy offering to come to meet you!

So what paperwork should there be with one that isn’t road-registered?
