BMW 420i or Lexus IS 350 pleasseee help
Discussion
Hi Guys,
I have been trying for days to decide between two cars and I am going crazy, it would be great to get your advise.
It is between the BMW 420i or Lexus IS 350, Both are the same price.
BMW is 2014 with only 39,500 km on the clock, private seller.
Lexus is 2015 with 60,000 ish on the clock, buying from Lexus garage, and the plus point with this is it still has 3 years warrantee and servicing left.
Just sold my BMW 135I and so I do still want a decent engine which can pull away, Of course the Lexus is much quicker but the BM is great to drive (testing the Lexus tomorrow)
Which would you choose?
Thank

I have just got back from test driving the Lexus, unfortunately I was a little disappointed.
The power delivery is very smooth but it does indeed drive like a luxury sedan rather than a sports sedan, the engine on my 135i was far more fun and responsive, but then I knew it was going to be.
The interior of the car was ok and it did come with all the extras like sat nav, reversing camera, heating and cooling seats....ect but it felt a little plasticy inside.
The drive and handling were fine but thats as about as much as i can say, everything on the car seemed to be fine rather than great.
I was still tempted due to the engine but the deciding factor was that it wouldn't take roof racks (which I need) so had to walk away.
I agree that the engine is much better in the IS 350 but the car will not hold its value, in South Africa anyway, it will also drink a lot more fuel compared to the 420I but again it's unfair comparing a 2.0 to a 3.5.
Everyone has said go for the Lexus now I feel like an idiot leaning towards to BM.

Do you have the 430i/435i/440i engines available? The power delivery is very smooth but it does indeed drive like a luxury sedan rather than a sports sedan, the engine on my 135i was far more fun and responsive, but then I knew it was going to be.

I would assume a fairer comparison would be the 3 series 335i due to it being a saloon rather than a coupe/gran coupe.
