Changing to a £1-2k stop gap maybe Mercedes - am I crazy?!
Discussion
Hey all,
Currently driving a 2010 bmw 120d convertible that’s worth around £6.5-7k, plan to get into a Tesla model 3 when they arrive but feel like scratching an itch for a few older cheaper cars before then!!
Getting teased/tempted by facebook ads for £1k Mercedes slk’s and clk’s which 99% of me knows would be madness, rust buckets etc etc but I’m still tempted!
My thinking is to advertise the one series, aim for top money for it as the spring starts to come, then jump into something between £1-2k for a few months to a year,
Still want it to be a nice place to be and am not mechanically minded so not something I need to be fixing every week! Mileage is relatively low at 6-8k so its just something to enjoy, 2 seats is fine if it’s worth it otherwise 4 is useful but not essential
Have been reading through the bargain threads along with some of the warnings threads ref turn of the century Mercedes but always keen for opinions and ideas hence the post.
I’ve had 2 x E46 BMW 330’s before so wouldn’t go there again, preference would be Mercedes if at all sensible just to try one for a bit. Other ideas welcome!
Cheers in advance!!

I bought this 528i for £600 off eBay. You need to bid on a few auctions and be prepared to take a bath. But if the car is cheap enough then why the hell not.

It's not madness if you go for a 2003 onwards car:Currently driving a 2010 bmw 120d convertible that’s worth around £6.5-7k, plan to get into a Tesla model 3 when they arrive but feel like scratching an itch for a few older cheaper cars before then!!

You have probably seen this already but...Currently driving a 2010 bmw 120d convertible that’s worth around £6.5-7k, plan to get into a Tesla model 3 when they arrive

If it was me I would send it back and never buy another Tesla again.

Cheers for the link hadn't seen that one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSLTNjGI8hw

IMO it's the same as trip advisor, for every one person complaining there's a ton of happy people not shouting about it.
I've driven a Model S a ton of times, spent time in a static Model 3 in the US and as you say if the quality was out I'd reject it. Overall the reviews are largely very positive and its not like the other manufacturers are perfect either!
