Most reliable 4+ seater car for under £1k?

Me and some mates are thinking of buying a cheap car and going on a bunch of road trips around Europe.

We're looking for anything reliable, has to be 4 or more seats and enough space to carry a bag each.

We know the car's going to be a bit of a peice of crap because of our price range but that's part of the fun.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: Also we're all 20 each with 2 NCB
