My current car is a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX wagon which is fantastic but I don’t really need something so practical. I have been looking at Nissan 350Z’s, I’ve never driven one but am concerned it would feel a bit of a downgrade in terms of turbo performance and all weather usability that the Subaru has as most of my driving is on B roads and country roads.

I think you are probably right - but only you will be able to tell whether it is a downgrade.

A completely different change to yours but I went from a Turbocharged Cooper S to my current 330i. To begin with I really missed the turbo 'rush' but now enjoy extending the NA engine through its rev range. Just feels very different - having not had a NA car for almost a decade.

I also think your right in your thinking, the 350Z will probably be an improvement in terms of comfort and cabin quality but in relation to the performance I think you will be disappointed compared to the AWD turbo boosted Subaru.

I depends how you look at it - if you judge a car that anyone can drive it quickly, in all weather, then most cars are worse than an Impreza.

However I find them dull because they are so competent

The 350Z is a massive upgrade IMO because you have to consider your speed, when you apply the throttle etc

My only issue with the 350z is weight

But decent, lightweight, RWD cars are rare
