So have my beloved Celica up for sale, proceeds of which will go towards another fun car.
I have owned in order 350z, VX220, R33 Skyline, Celica GT-Four over the last few years. I have decided on a fairly firm budget of ten grand for another car which can be my drive for pleasure and fun car.
I don't want a hatchback or similar, no restrictions on seats, not diesel, turbo or NA is fine, old cars are fine, I like stuff which is a bit unique and/or different, car is to be used purely for pleasurable driving I dont care if I cannot get a fridgefreezer in the back. Conversely a Westfield or similar would be too hardcore.
I am at the moment 90% of the way settled on getting another NA VX220 but wanted to test the waters a bit in case I am missing something else quite obvious. Have ummed and urred about a boxster but they feel a little bit too common for my liking. Also in striking range of a 35i Z4 which with a remap looks a brute, but would be buying the cheapest ones out there.

205 GTI, VW Karmann Ghia, 60s Ford Mustang (doer upper for 10k probably), E30 BM, 944 S2 (10k should squeeze a decent one).
205 sits in the hatchback department, I want something a bit less 'upright' if thats the right word for it. VWKG would be a restoration job at £10k (I dont have a garage or driveway). If you wanted newer, I think ND MX-5's are almost down to £10k believe it or not. Not as focused as the VX and likely to loose more money, but newer.
Can you still get a Corvette for this money? Maybe a C4 or have C5's dropped low enough? Likewise, still my car of choice, Camaro/Trans Am fbody. Manual 6 speeds are a lot more fun than the auto's though, but rarer.

Thanks, didnt realise MX5s had dropped so much, seemed only yesterday the D came out! There is American stuff out there and prices seem to vary a fair bit, I only do around 3000-4000 miles a year so not fussed on MPG and the older mustangs are quite good looking things. I hadn't realised about MX5's either, but looked at the approved used on the Mazda main site, seemed to be quite a few for £12k on there, with low mileage. So I assumed private would get you one for near to £10k.The American stuff doesn't appeal to all, but they can be a bit of a hoot. C4's are a bit old school, think TVR just a bit heavier and more mass market interior.
Finding a manual car is the hard part though.
