XKR 5.0 or 4.2

New here....thinking about buying a 4.2 or 5ltr XKR Jag. Which is better, is the 5 worth it? I know there are threads about this kind of thing already but they seem quite a while ago. Any other options? Not liking M6 or XFR. Cheers

Had a 4.2 S type, nice car, then went for a 5.0 XKR, Great car! you pays your money you takes your choice.

For me 5.0 everytime.

Anyone that suggests the 4.2 over the 5.0 is just giving bad advice.

The 5.0 is light years ahead. If you get the 4.2 you'll just wish you saved a few more quid and got the 5.0.

I'm not sure why I got rid of mine looking back.

To be fair, the infotainment is not a selling point! It is utterly terrible and such a poorly thought out interface. Want heated seats? Press a button, screen eventually changes, turn on heated seat. Need to change radio station, switch screen. Turn on sat nav, switch screen but now your arse is on fire so you have to go back to another screen to turn it off.

The sound is very very good though.

I have looked at most things maz 4200 and 3200s too but keep coming back to the xkr. Think most other cars in this bracket (jag is no exception depending on owners/history) will have been ragged all the M bmws and amg mercs.

It would definitely be the 5.0 for me, can you get decent ones of them for £20k now? if so that's an awful lot of car for the money

My heart is saying 5.0. Will have to drive it though. Sat all booked in. 555 tax 500 insurance and hopefully no surprises.

Definitely the 5.0, amazing engine, amazing car. Had to sell mine due to a circumstance change a few years ago, still miss it!

I'm a pragmatic and practical kind of guy, but in this instance, buy the fastest.
