I'm after a AWD petrol vehicle with 4 seats (sorry Porsche) that's instant off the mark, no turbo lag, no auto lag. That's very quick and fun to drive.

Budget up to 40K

Manual preferred but a super quick auto would be fine if it doesn't have lag - did I say I hate lag ? wink

Focus RS ?
Jaguar F-Pace ?
RS3 ?

Everyone is buying Golf Rs ……..

Running costs / mpg / doesn't matter.

Current Car is a C63 AMG (205) and fed up with no traction so looking for AWD
Previous car was a M135i which was very good but a bit small (thinking back it was nippy)
Weekend fun car is a 2006 R53 MINI Checkmate 1.6 Supercharged with a G4 Link ECU
Work vehicle is a Amarok V6 oil burner wink

RS7. Would recommend a F10 M5 if you didn't need AWD.

RS7 is a bit big and heavy, I tried the M5 last year and even though it was fantastic, it needs to be AWD ( which the new versions are) but a bit above my budget

Maybe I should just wait for the M4 AWD for 2020 ?

If you can find an extra £10k down the back of the sofa, you can buy a new C43 AMG.

Or is that just going to feel like a direct downgrade from your current car?

Actually, seems second hand ones can be had from £35k ish. Didn't realise they'd been about since 2016

It's a bit of a tough one really. Do you actually mean "lag", or do you mean "boost threshold"?
Most turbo cars don't really have much, if any perceptible lag these days, but they do still have a noticeable boost threshold.

Have you tried an A45 AMG?

Short of that, the only actually N/A, AWD £40k car I can think of is a B8 RS4 and that's probably not going to touch a C63 for "fun".

Are you sure you want to go quick, brian the snail wink

All joking aside, newer shape impreza sti is stupid quick with a low threshold.

Nice and loud and awd too !

Audi S4 with an MRC stage 2 engine and gearbox remap?

Not the most chuckable thing, but it goes like stink!

Thank you for the replies, I was a big fan of the Impreza's, maybe its time to try one again.
Hadn't though about the A45 AMG that sounds rather good

This ^^. Its supercharged so lag isn't relevant.

If you want a coupe instead of a saloon or estate the S5 is the same drivetrain.

I bought mine in an attempt to find a less obvious answer to another impreza or evo.

I suppose I mean the Lag = THe time you put your foot on the throttle to the time it accelerates quickly, maybe I should have said also quick off the mark.. I also have a Amarok V6 Auto, its quick once its built up boost and everything is spinning, but if you want to nip out infront of someone are roar off up the road, its a NO frown lol !
