Hi,

Have a 16 insignia 1.4 sri nav turbo. Looking to change and test drove a couple of cars over last few days.

2015 golf 2.0d dsg 44k miles 11995 -- was nice to drive but not brave enough to take on a dsg box out of warranty

2017 i40 1.7 crdi 15k miles 11890 -- still 4 years warranty to run, but thoroughly bland to drive. Weirdest clutch feel of any car I have ever driven. Wife has a 2017 Tuscon and it feels more dynamic.

2015 golf 2.0d manual estate 33k miles 9990 --Again, nice to drive good amount of room inside. Enjoyed being back in a torquey diesel. 33k miles with FSH. Short test drive from cold and when accelerating off a roundabout there was visible blue smoke. Happened once more but 50% less and then didnt happen again. Once warmed up seemed fine. Avoid?

Are these engines the 2.0 CR? Less reliable than the old PD?

Brought back memories of a mazda 6 diesel i had with leaky valve stem seals and that car became a complete dog

Any other options?

12-15k miles a year mainly commuting occasional motorway blasts. Occasional trailer towing. 3 small boys but the wife drives the family wagon.

I bought a 2015 1.6d Golf a few months back...with 70k miles. Runs like a dream, smooth, quiet, refined. I live in Germany and it spends one day a week being driven hard (by me) and the other days my wife just pootles about very happily in it.

Some good options there thanks for the links.

308 gt line looks lovely inside and out. Found one close to me (NI) so might take a look

Not sure if the vw or Peugeot diesel would be more reliable.

They're both very reliable that GT Line looks like a good buy & CHG always have good stock.

The Peugeot 2ltr is by far the more reliable of the 2 diesel engines.
