Suspicious service history
Discussion
Hi all,
I’ve been to see a car I like and it looks pretty good, perfect spec, reasonable miles and relatively cheap considering.
So I’ve put the deposit on as I really like the car, (Golf GTI DSG 2008) but it’s only until after I’ve searched where it was MOT’d that I’ve realised he’s bodged the DSG servicing in the book (all MOT’s opposite side of country, DSG service done not so far from where seller is and I asked if it had been done prior to viewing the car. It’s currently got 78k miles on, whereas the DSG servicing is recommended at 40k intervals.
Should it be anything to worry about? Or am I being over the top?
Thanks in advance.
Edited to add: it seems to drive perfectly fine and gearbox is smooth.

Any doubt I’d walk away.
The 6 speed wet clutch dsg boxes need the oil and filter change every 40k/4 years it’s only the latest 7 speed versions that are every 80k.
It’s essential to keeping them running sweet, and at 10-11 years old it should have had 2 dsg services and not far off ready for its 3rd.
There are plenty of them out there so I’d move along.

If the price is right then go for it.
For peace of mind factor £150 in for a dsg oil change.
Wouldn’t worry too much - in fact nowadays they say these gearboxes don’t even need an oil change they are sealed for life etc etc.
Not for DSG boxes - still 40k oil change intervals. For peace of mind factor £150 in for a dsg oil change.

Personally, I wouldn't have one without proof that the changes had been carried out.
