Hi im trying to buy a good daily car but aswell a car that i can have fun with. Each of these cars perform great and have some power. The bmw is rwd while the golf is fwd. is the bmw that much better? What pros and cons do they have? And how do they compare to each other? And about repair cost and service? ( i will do most of the stuff like brakes oil etc) thanks

I had a pre-registered E87 123d for over 6 years and 81K miles, but bailed out of it because of the N47 timing chain issues. Other than that it was a great car.

With the benefit of hindsight I'd go for a pre-facelift E87 with the M47 engine - more powerful than the Golfs and the bonus of RWD!

I literally own all 3.

I've got 4 1-Series and the later N47 ones are more comfortable to drive, easier box and steering.

However I really love my old knackered M47 M-Sport. That's what I'd go with. 187k and hasnt missed a beat and I give it death everywhere.

All the above are decent there is a car worth seeking out which will handle better than the above & that's the Megane RS175 it's a very good steer.
