M140i: did I get a good deal?
Discussion
Placed a deposit on an M140i yesterday after haggling and will be a cash buy. I was so excited then started looking and comparing prices (been doing so for weeks now) but paranoid I’m missing out on a better deal and it’s ruining my enjoyment. Have I genuinely got a decent deal or should I push for more?
2017 sapphire black, manual box
11,500 miles
Oyster leather
Heated seats
Parking sensors
Harmon Kardon
BMW approved (main dealer)
1 owner
service plan until 2020 (first service not due until May)
£50 fuel included
6 months road tax included (£140 per year)
List price was £21,495. I haggled to £21,100 and the fuel / road tax.
It’s the colour combo I was after but missing sun protection glass but think I can add that on? Not after an auto as I’ve driven.
Thanks
John.

Having worked for a number of years in the motor trade, the point you have got a good deal is the point the salesperson/manager thanks you for your time, and politely walks you to the door.
A colleague bought a M140 Championship Edition before at the end of December.... the dealership were falling over themselves to sell a car. They let him walk.... he went back later that day and bought the car.

Not bad IMO so wouldn't worry about it. Prices have been falling, given the huge discounts from new and relatively high number of used examples. However, trade in value is approx £28k so is not unreasonable for a dealership to add £3k on top.
You didn't specify mileage or date of registration though so that£18k could be £18.5 at best.
I had a 2017 (March) M140 auto with similar spec an got £19k, which was offered by a number of sources. I owed about that on PCP.
Just enjoy the car. You may have got a few hundred off but is this really worth getting upset over? Not worth taking the shine off IMO. Just enjoy the creamy straight six and red lol.

As long as you're happy with the deal then you got a good deal.
ExactlyThere will always be someone who got a better deal (especially on the internet) but as long as you are happy what does it matter
I am trying very hard to stop overthinking every decision I make as I get older
What would that car (as optioned) have cost new - list and discounted?
In all the cars I've bought (mostly new) I've never felt totally happy with the deal apart from a new Golf 6 (still can't believe I got one for £12K) and a 5mth old Merc bought some years ago that was 35% less than new list at a time when new lead-time was 6mths.
It's easier with new cars as you can just look at DtD or similar (although BMW are trying to shut down those routes). With used, it's trickier as the variable make it hard to do comparisions.

I’ve yet to come across a used example in my budget that has adaptive dampers. I’ve also heard mixed reviews on them and I won’t be using the nav so not really that fussed. I wouldn’t have went for it if I wasn’t happy.
