So due to my wifes health issues she is finding more and more difficult to get in and out of a regular car so in the market for a mid size SUV
This isnt a market i have ever had any interest in so looking for any guidance / tips etc.

From what i can see there seems to be 3 different sizes, small (Ecosport), mid (Kuga) and large (X5)

So looking at mid size ones, budget was 10k but found a nice looking Kuga at local Ford dealer, 2014 Titainium with 45k miles at £12000 so thats really my absolute max.

Whatever i end up buying needs to have a fairly big boot but with a lowish loading sill, we have 2 dogs, a St Bernard and a retriever (although the retriever is 15 years old so......maybe just 1 soon weeping)

Not many petrols available at this price point so diesel, dosent matter about man or auto, leather is a must as is lots of toys, 2012 onwards

Ive looked at (online) Qashqai, Kuga, Sportage, X3, Q3 etc and Kuga looks best for buck

Like the look of the new shape 3008 but not in budget. She refuses to drive my van so anything too big is a no no. Cant think of any more requirements so is the Kuga the best of a boring bunch ? Anything else to consider ?

The Qashqai boot is quite high and is fairly small so id discount that personally.

Skoda Yeti. High driving position, not too big and very practical boot as the back seats come out.

Qashqai was dismissed as my mum has one lol, looked at the Mazda CX's and they looked a bit bland (although havent seen yet a SUV that makes me think wow !)

I liked the Yeti but when casually showing her one her response wasnt very PC about what they looked like. Looked at the Scout range of Skodas as a kinda half way house but again not blown away

I get the feeling this one will get laughed out of court due to the non-prestige badge, but Dacia Duster.

Renault Kadjar?

Kuga would be my first choice with the Sportage 2nd.

Funnily enough ive looked at the Dacia's, really good value but would be a hard sell. Kadjar was also on the list but we currently have a new shape Megane and not blown away with the build quality so reluctant to buy another Renault

We went through this middle of last year.

Our budget was only about £10k and we ended up with a Hyundai IX35. Seemed to offer the best value for money at that price at the time. Build quality seems good, drives ok and has lots of useful stuff like a big panoramic roof that actually opens (amazing how many don't), bluetooth, heated front and rear leather seats, nav, parking sensors (essential for the wife) etc.
