Audi SQ7 3rd Row of Seats
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm looking to buy a fast 7 seater SUV. I do a fair amount of long distance driving and need 7 seats.
I want something fast too though and have looked at the Audi SQ7. The question that I have though is how much space do you get in the 3rd row of seats?
I'm 5'8" tall and have been in an X5 and the 3rd row is pretty uncomfortable and claustrophobic. The Merc GL/GLS has lot of space but then I'd be looking at the GL63 - which is quite bad of fuel efficiency.
How much space is there in the back of the SQ7? Is it like the GL/GLS or more like the X5?

You can’t buy an SQ7 currently...I'm looking to buy a fast 7 seater SUV. I do a fair amount of long distance driving and need 7 seats.

I have a 2017 Q7, the 3rd row seats are better than the 3rd row in the X5 but would be more restrictive than a MB GLS/GL which are almost full size. My teenage kids use the 3rd row on a regular basis. The 2nd row does slide forwards and backwards in the Q7 which does ease the situation for the 3rd row occupants at the expense of the normally very generous 2nd row accommodations.

Sorry for the late reply.
Why can't you buy an SQ7 anymore?
Not seen any GL450's on sale - it's either the GL350 or the GL63? (I'm in the UK)
Fast wise - looking for something as close to 0-60 in 5 seconds as possible.
I don’t think VAGLover has looked at Autotrader as there’s plenty you can currently buy.Why can't you buy an SQ7 anymore?

Only saw 1 GL450 which is a 2011 model. Am I looking in the wrong place?
I don't want to buy anything too old either in all honesty. They cost a lot to fix and so I'd rather go for a newer lower millage car if possible.

Although I admire the fact that the GL63 and SQ7 exist I just don't really see what kind of driver enjoyment you'll get out of them given the size and wafty nature. They both seem too compromised to me .. obviously if unlimited funds were available I'd snap up either one just for the sake of it, but it's not going to replace a more sport orientated car.Fast wise - looking for something as close to 0-60 in 5 seconds as possible.
The one thing I like about my Q7 is it's totally disconnected from the road in a luxury-waft kind of way. It can hustle to 60 in around 6.5s but you don't often feel the urge to bother.

Thanks for that, whats the space in the 3rd row of seats like? Could a grown dult use those seats comfortably for a 3 - 3.5 hour drive? The one thing I like about my Q7 is it's totally disconnected from the road in a luxury-waft kind of way. With the advise above, I've also been looking at the Volvo T8 - The statistics look very good but the interior isn't really doing it much justice....

Comfortably for 3-3.5 hours is a bit of a stretch, the main issue is the depth of the foot well, works fine for children but not good for people with longer legs. You'll have the same problem in anything smaller than a GL or Escalade I think. My friend has a GL and it's significantly bigger than the Q7 in terms of length. The X5 is smaller than the Q7, esp 3rd row .. i think the T8 is similar to Q7 (maybe smaller) in terms of size. With the advise above, I've also been looking at the Volvo T8 - The statistics look very good but the interior isn't really doing it much justice....

I'm in the market for something similar. Looking at the GL/GLS and Q7. The Landcruiser is another option from a size point of view but it looks a bit dated IMHO. I want to like the new Discovery but it's not growing on me.. They also seem to have removed the larger petrol option and a bunch of the colours it launched with.. not sure what's going on with LR at the moment. Hopefully they will get the new Defender right and offer a 7 seater version too.
