Hello folks

I currently have a BMW 330D Auto LCI, I bought it as I was changing jobs which came with a 30k commute. This never worked out for me, so I am now not doing that mileage and no longer need a diesel. Plus I no longer need a car for work, I now hit the pavements every day to the office.

This GP2 has really caught my eye and previously having x1 R53 JCW Cooper S and x1 R56 Cooper S, I am somewhat of a Mini fan. Even my gf has a Cooper S F56. The car in question is -

Mini Cooper S GP2

Also - I have heard much better things about the N18 engine in terms of reliability, is this actually true? I really don't want another Mini using 1L of oil per 1k miles.

Thanks
PB

Its at a Mini dealer so you get a proper 12 month warranty vs private or small car dealer which is a big plus for me.

Dont think its over priced really given its at a dealer seems bang on the money and they dont really drop in price from what i can see

I have a N18 JCW and it used around 1.5L in 13,000 miles

Don’t know much about these admittedly, but nearly £17k for a 6 year old, 55k mile Mini?

Price looks about average but as said, got the benefit of being from a main dealer. Not sure how the prices of these are going but for a bit less you could get a GP1 with similar mileage and it'd not depreciate at all or more likely appreciate.

N18 fixes a lot of the design flaws with the n14.

I couldn't agree more about the 12 months warranty.

Prices do seem to be around this kind of money, so I like to think it isn't overpriced, but wanted thoughts from others.

That is much better than my last R56, as that was using 1L in 800 miles. It was truly terrible and then the timing chain shat itself, so that was fun.

I have called the dealership and they are sending me a video of the car. They have replaced x4 alloys as they were curbed + x4 new Michelin tyres. They have also replaced all of the stickers as they were looking dull (pretty common on these cars). The only downside is it has had 3 previous owners... That seems like a lot too me

3 owners in 5 years? i dont think its bad it a fairly extreme hot hatch having 2 seats only, peoples circumstances change and they might need more seats!

you have no worries as it carries a proper Mini warranty i think its on the money price wise

Values have definitely gone up. I paid just under £17K for mine on around 25K miles about three years ago. Values seemed to dip and I stupidly panicked and sold it for considerably less and wish I never had. Some are seriously overpriced and have sat around for months.

Your link isn't working for me but I'd say this one seems to be a fair price.

The N18 engine (introduced mid 2012) fixed all the issues on the N14 so I wouldn't have any concerns. The Bilstein dampers are flawed and I believe BMW/Mini are still replacing these out of goodwill if/when they fail. Or Lohen will rebuild them for you for a relatively small amount of money. Only other issue I had on mine was a small oil leak (can't remember from where, sorry) but that was sorted under warranty. Would have been around £350 otherwise.

I'd absolutely love another but couldn't really justify paying a huge premium over what I sold mine for. Incredible package and so much fun at sensible speeds, throughly recommend it. Only other car that comes close is the 208 GTI by Peugeot Sport.

Unfortunately, the Mini that I posted sold. I called up the dealer and someone already beat me to it, I am gutted to say the least. The garage even offered me a good PX price for my car, but I was just too slow to call them.

Fantastic, that is exactly what I have read online. Plus also having first-hand experience in the previous gen R56 Cooper S engine.

I'l be honest, I am not the biggest fan of the 208 GTI it just doesn't look special enough. Whereas the GP2 looks awesome and is stripped out as standard spermcloud9

Thanks for posting the link to the other Mini, that dealer has had their GP2 for months so they might be will to do a deal. I would prefer to buy one from a main dealership though, as I like the piece of mind of having a manufacturer warranty

laugh I have been tempted to do this, especially as I would track the GP2 and use it as my daily drive

That's a shame! The GP2 will always hold its value much better over a 208 as well. I'll snap up a GTI by PS when they're £7/8K, will be such a bargain. Same Prince engine block in both cars funnily enough, just a shame the Peugeot doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the Mini.

Completely understand wanting to buy from a main dealer. I bought mine from an independent dealer on PH, who is a proper enthusiast and loves the brand which helped get a bit of a deal. Pretty sure I had a 3 month warranty from him that covered the oil leak fix, but some warranties are better than others for sure.

It's very very unlikely that they replaced the wheels, more likely is they have been refurbished. Might be worth asking for an invoice for the wheels (which they will have if they replaced them) otherwise you could have scabby wheels in a few months and not be able to do anything about it.

The GP2 would make a better daily and track car out of the box, but an R53 with some choice mods would be less of a concern being hit/dinged/tyrewalled....

I saw a Checkmate for less than £4k a few weeks ago, and pre-fl's can be had from a grand.

1320 will swap £10k cash for 400 bhp too if that's your bag....

Eta - SotW hehe that is overpriced, cat n, higher miles, wrong bumper, much better ones to chose from than that...
