Still going around in circles here.

Up to 35k to spend on a weekend and Euro tripping car.

Requirements;

Fit my powerfully built 6ft5” frame in it
Fit in my (small) single garage
Be appreciating/slowly depreciating in value
Wife friendly - no 700bhp evos, as much as I’d enjoy one
Fast is good but open to classics

Front runners;
TVR Tuscan
997 C2S
Fettled mk1/2 escort

Its a difficult choice but i think with euro trips planned it has to be the 911. You could get into a 996 Turbo for your budget.
The fragility of the Tuscan engine would put me off even though one with a rebuild should be ok.
Im not sure i could ever go backwards to a mk 1/2 escort even though id love to have one in my collection.
Some of the Amg mercs are a cracking buy.

My first thought would be a Lotus Evora there as enjoyable to drive as the 911 & for me a bit more special.

I'm 6'7 & find that I can sit in one comfortably so I'd suggest test driving one.

Some other garage friendly alternatives:

Honda S2000

M3 CSL (with a budget stretch)

Alfa 4C

Rather than the 911 I'd go for the Cayman R

You might be a bit too big for a Morgan... I am 6'2" and fit comfortably in one - so you might be OK.

I moved to a Morgan a few years ago after a succession of 'supercars' and I really like it. A modern classic that's perfect for the weekend, doesn't depreciate that much, wive's love them because they look nice. They also fit in any garage, they're not huge cars.

You'd get one for your budget easily.

Just a thought. smile

Something not quite right with that one...wasn't full leather part of the Premium Pack?

Push the budget/haggle hard for this one?

Might have to get the tape out again as I previously discounted the Evore due to its width - it’s over 2m which would mean me living in the car as I couldn’t get out once i’d got it in the garage! However I do agree, they’re great value.

I love the Cayman R’s but buying at the lower end of the market puts me off slightly - the best examples are still towards £45k but perhaps I need to go and have a look at some £35k ones and see what’s what.

A Cayman is 1801 mm wide
An Evora is 1848 mm wide

You're not going to be getting out of either in your garage

For Euro road trips I'd be wanting a convertible. Nothing like driving in the sunshine through the mountains with the roof down.

Mustang GT convertible maybe?

For a garaged weekend car, sunny days only then the Tuscan is immense.
The speed, noise, look and engagement is like nothing else especially at this price range. Its also the type of car you can park up home and abroad and just get admiration for.
For £35K I would buy the best Mk1 you can find from a specialist like St8six. It will come with warranty and be like new. Also I'm 6f 6" and fit in mine, just.

If you looking for something more all weather day to day then the V8V or Evora would still give a level of excitement a drama.
The 911 is great daily but doesn't have the wow factor of the others.

Saying that I did like the R8. Even through its no thrills, the uniqueness, design and a wonderful V8 gave it an appeal I still crave and prices are at the bottom end although with £35K you would probably will struggle to find anything decent.

Autotrader suggests it’s over 2m wife? Perhaps with wing mirrors included? I’ll look into it.
