Anyone on here have one. I for one have a rather big soft spot for them and power/size/space wise it seems a good car for me. Any know issues crop on them or anything to be aware of.

I'm not aware of any drawbacks - I think they are brilliant bits of kit and put many 'prestige' brands to shame. Good handling, quick enough, refined at speed and not overly thirsty.

The big engine version has some decent poke, less than 5s 0-60. I like that they are rare, massive warranty too.

Downsides: as a used buy they don’t seem to be significantly different on price to a 6cyl bmw. Fuel economy is awful. The residuals could be really bad. The interior is low rent. It’s called a Stinger.

I think mid-term residuals might turn out to be pretty strong (by powerful petrol barge standards) because of the warranty.

That's got to be half the reason I'd buy one laugh much better than trying to explain what a 540i is...

£40k, Jesus effing h Christ. Erm.

Whilst possible a nice car I have never driven one either for that money your in to a nice m4/m2/cayman etc.

Now at around £30k-35k then not so bad.

Sorry just my opinion. Each to there own.

Aren't you slightly contradicting yourself in saying that the used price is the same a a 6 cyl BMW but also that the residuals could be really bad? The first point suggests that so far they are pretty good!

Probably won’t need de coking every five mins new turbos or a new bottom end or an axe removing from your head from the local crime firm regularly though so in the long run will probably be a winner

30k for one with 10k on the clock seems like decent value & the depreciation seems in line with most of its competitors.

I think there have been some issues with the bright yellow paint (some have been resprayed IIRC) and I seem to recall that the rims are somewhat fragile when subjected to a few UK potholes.

Thanks - a quick google reveals that.

I’d want a red one. The warranty is particularly appealing. They look good and getting a non hybrid non German non diesel big saloon isn’t the work of a moment

Someone on here mentioned they have 6,000 mile service intervals.

Funnily enough I have a soft spot for these too, even popped into my local Kia dealer the other day to see if they had one I could poke and prod (they didn't, but would get one in for me).

They've priced it wrong, it just nicks into the highest tax bracket (over £40k) which makes it unappealing and it sounds like they let an 8yr old boy come up with the name... Other than that I could be very tempted, they look great and have a decent spec as standard.

6k mile service interval though? Perhaps they're not confident in the longevity of the engine... The only other car I can think of that had one shorter was the (very high power and very highly strung) Evo 9 FQ400...

I have that thought re the pricing and taxing it but £250 is neither here nor there.

It’s a very short service interval - that I didn’t know. Modern cars have crazy long ones but 6k would be wearying. I tend to service around 10k intervals. The US market wouldn’t mind 6k. I’d be curious if that’s a Kia/Hyundai thing - and if the i30n is the same. They’re willing to warrant the car for 4 years more than most but maybe because of this insist it’s serviced OTT to mitigate against the risk of failure in the warranty term.

Any reports of them going pop?

Actually any on here have a Kia/Hyundai- do you have to service yours a lot?

I believe the service interval is short because as you say Kia/Hyundai are being careful with the engine, this car is the only one in the range with a four figure service interval. On the flipside the servicing costs are sensible positively cheap compared to their German compatriots.

It still falls under the standard VED bracket. The £40k limit is the OTR price minus first year VED and registration fee. This brings it back just under £40k (but no scope for extras really).

I love them too but the 6 month/6k service intervals would get annoying pretty quickly.

I guess you could use an indy garage with Kia parts to minimize the hassle/expense?

Slightly, yes. I’m purely speculating that the values might drop off a cliff a bit further down the line. They may hold up however, they are rare.
