Which luxobarge?

Change in career later in the year so will be doing roughly 8x 100 mile trips a month, need a barge for the motorway commute.
Had a W220 S65 AMG for a year and LOVED it. Don't have the budget this time around as I need some cash set aside, probably 6-8k budget.
Has to be 8-12 cylinders and petrol, MPG over 20, not interested in diesels as the savings from 15mpg and 10p a litre more just don't justify the tractor engine to me- doing petrolhead man maths that is.
Current options-
Audi A8 W12, like the subtle styling and engine sounds amazing, not so keen on interior, won't see many others on the road
760/750 E66 (LWB)- love the much lamented styling, interior lovely, will probably age well
Not interested in another Merc, I've had a CL55 and S65 so feel like I've ticked the boxes. E38s all seem to be shagged for this money so also discounted despite how well they have aged.
Anybody owned a big engined A8 and a 7 series that can weigh in?
