Circumstances are changing and I’m going to have to get rid of the 130i (gutted) in favour of a 4 seat convertible for the missus. I’ll be running the leased XE for the last 12 months of the lease.

So were after something for £5-7k, reliable, as low mileage as possible, probably petrol unless it’s a pre-DPF diesel. She does around 8k a year so not sure we can justify a diesel but happy to hear opinions. Her commute is around 20 miles a day for 3 days a week.

Don’t really want anything French so been looking at C70, Eos type of convertibles.

Looking forward to any similar experience anyone has had and the always useful post from ZX10R!!

Thanks in advance.

Whilst I’d be happy with one the Mrs isn’t sure and she’ll be driving it most of the time. I’ll put in on the list as a maybe ...

Mercedes CLK was my first thought, or if you want to keep with BMW a 325i/330i convertible would also fit the bill. There's also the A4 cab but I personally think it has the least desirable engine options compared to the aforementioned.

cheers

Thanks but I forgot to mention we need an auto. Also not overly keen on either tbh. I’m thinking older but lower mileage.

My money would be on a BMW 1 Series convertible.

Would this fix the 130i shaped hole?

Thanks for the replies so far. Looked at most of those earlier and the manual ones are ruled out. I’m quite liking the Merc’s, didn’t think I would but I do. Anyone any experience with them ?

I worry that the 1’er will be too small but like your thinking!!

The CLK's are good cars I'm bias as I have owned a few but they really are a decent car they're swift for your budget the 280's seem to be the best pick. The last two I listed look pretty good.

1 series tiny in the back so forget anyone apart from small kids.

We have an A4 convertible and there's plenty of room in the back.
It's refined and the roof is excellent. It's the diesel (long commute) and returns 45-50 mpg.

However I would go for the Beemer or Merc with your budget (I had £4k so couldn't stretch to a decent E46)

Looked at the Saab but a decent A4 came up and went for that.

Had it 6 months and it's been faultless.

Yes that's what I thought about the rear space, rules out the 1er and the Mini as we've got older kids.

Think we need to go look at the 93, C70, 3 Series and CLK. Going to be a case of keeping a look out for the "right" one. It'll need heated seats and nav along with < 60k miles. There are a few around 5-6k but I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Anyone any experience of the CLK200 ?
