Leasing or buying 1 year old cupra
Discussion
Hi, i wanted all you fine folks view on whether or not to buy a seat 67-68 plate cupra with <5k on the clock for roughly 24k or should i lease?
Lease will cost me 7200-7500 roughly over 2 years.
Would it be more cost effective to buy the car pcp or outright?
Benefits there's no waiting time for the car, saves me from buying or renting car as my current cars gearbox has gone.
All views welcome. Thanks.

One thing I would point out is a number of people who leased the Cupra Black Editions with DSG around the same time we leased our manual have reported the clutch starting to slip at very low mileages - like 12-15k.
I believe Seat are not too forthcoming with assistance under warranty either so if you are looking at a DSG it may be something to bear in mind when looking at used.

You've got that the wrong way round buddy. The clutch on the manual cupra, golf R and S3 are made of chocolate and the warranty is only 6 months from new. For some reason they chose to fit a clutch that was already at its torque limit.I believe Seat are not too forthcoming with assistance under warranty either so if you are looking at a DSG it may be something to bear in mind when looking at used.
The 6 speed dsg in the cars of the age the OP is looking at is trouble free even on cars running way more power.
A quick check on AT suggests that you would lose £7-8K on a 1 year old car over the same 2 year period so unless you are looking to add a lot of options leasing would seem to make sense as would be a brand new car with RFL for the term and financially commit you to £7.5k rather than £24k.
Of course the issue with leasing is if circumstances change you can't get out of it easily unlike a car you have bought outright.

For the great deals you can get on them at the moment, I wouldn't really think of buying, unless you really had your mind set on owning the car. In fact, the Leon Cupra's are one of the few decent lease deals out there at the moment.
I've seen posted deals on the leasing thread of 1 + 23 profiles for around £286 PM Inc VAT for 10k miles PA. Can't get much better In the current climate.
