New workhorse for the missus, 5k max
Discussion
My gf is looking for something to replace her dying diesel astra but we're struggling to find something that fits her fussy requirements. She drives a lot for work, a mixture of short journeys and ones over 30 minutes, looking at between 15-20k miles annually. She has been fine with a diesel up till now but is understandably weary of another. However we live and work in rural norfolk so if the penalties for owning a diesel are overrated at the moment she will consider another one, especially as it seems the nicer hybrids are out of her price range. A few other things;
Less than 50k miles would be nice
Body shape hatchback or suv (no estates)
Must be 5 door, big boot is a must
Economy is paramount
Max price 5k
Any help will be much appreciated!

I'd say tell your GF to take a look at the Alfa Giulietta in Veloce trim they're a good reliable steer:

All the above should serve you well & are 2011 or newer as well as having 70k or less on the clock.

Vauxhall Insignias are very underrated if all you need is a comfy box to cover miles in. They are also insanely cheap for what you get. We've had three in the family, one is on over 100k now and still feels tight as a drum.
If that's too big then an Astra or Focus will do the job. If you can hunt down a Kia Ceed under 7 years old you will get balance of the manufacturers warranty.

Thank you for the replies people. It might be hard to convince her to look at a mondeo/insignia sized car but theres so little choice within her requirements that she might have to. Really liking the alfa suggestion, great looking car.
The Alfa's are reliable & well equipped too.Gassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
