BCA - Not Collecting a Car
Discussion
Well my dealings with the BCA are being a bit problematic, and now annoying. So firstly they couldn't get in contact, and then when I finally chased them twice, the first opportunity was 3 days after the lease ended. VWFS acknowledged this had been a bit of a cockup and then there was a grace period, all good.
Literally the 2 days before collection, big ass stone chip, which has turned itself into a crack, total nightmare as the soonest available replacement windscreen was always going to be after the collection date. The BCA inspector has said that he can't collect it with it, it's not small granted, but it also isn't in any sight lines.
So now speaking to VWFS, they want to be informally extend by a month, and they'll refund the days not used, yet I have heard of other people having much more success with VWFS with them being flexible about collection dates? Anyone with any more experience on this?
To say this has now cocked up my plans is an understatement, admittedly not VW's fault! But I kinda now have a car I don't need, and am out of the country for the next week and have setup it all up so the car was collected and I head off to the Airport! So the I can just see this being a whole world of added charges for various things!

Not ideal!
BCA were useless when I VT'd my BMW last year. I had to chase numerous times to get a collection date setup. For 3 weeks I had a car that I no longer needed but still had to keep insured and taxed.
I had the last laugh though as when the chap came to inspect / collect it, the weather was bloody awful and it was torrential rain for near enough the whole 'inspection' Not the inspectors fault I agree, I did feel bad for him being outside in that weather.... but the rain hid all of the chips on the bonnect / front bumper and the chap missed the fact I did not have locking wheel nut! Zero charges came my way when I was expecting a few.

Yeah, well VW have said it can be collected with the crack, but on a low loader, and that cost would then be passed on to me, plus whatever charge VW would then want for the Windscreen, which I have no doubt is more than my excess, so I have booked the Nations favourite Windscreen replacement folk to come and do that at the very first opportunity when I am back, and hopefully the BCA will collect it the day after, just want to try and do that without entering a formal extension and paying more leasing costs.

I had a hole in the windscreen on my Golf R and they wouldn't collect unless it was a low loader either so I drove it to the BCA auction place.
Be aware - they tried to hit me with a £350 for a new windscreen despite the damage matrix and a call with CS confirming it was £60 odd regardless if its a chip or a new windscreen.
Ombudsman sorted it in the end as they wouldn't back down.

VWFS offer two types of extensions, Formal and Informal.Informal being pretty much as stated, a rolling continuation of what you're currently paying past the contract end date. Comes into play to cover unknown scenarios, IE: your new lease falls behind schedule and you're looking at being without a car for two months. In this case your current contract would simply run over to fill that void.
Formal being a whole new revised assessment and a new/amended contract to reflect the further lease period. In my experience both times a formal extension quote was requested the amended figures were sky high, to the point It was cheaper leasing again from new, which I did.
I dont think it's really a necessity for a few weeks. I had a lease to return via BCA, you only get block periods on their website to book your inspection and collection. I couldn't get it collected before the official end of contract date but I selected the first available one thereafter and never bothered contacting VWFS. Car got inspected then collected after the lease end date, I never heard nothing from anybody which lends credence to your mentioning of VWF's flexibility over collection dates.
Hope I've been of help, if not at least I tried

First post so apologies in advance. There are so many BCA forums I didn't know where to post. with BCA allowing buy it now on the website I want to be able to see the prices before I commit to membership. Does anyone know the best way to go about this? I know what car to search for if that helps.
