Looking at my next car, after my leased Golf R goes back. The Golf is very competent but lacking in drama, noise, and presence.

Must be:

- Purpose built (no halo saloons)
- RWD/4WD
- 6 Cylinders or more
- Reliable (little bork factor - will be my only car, so used as a daily)
- More than 300 Bhp
- £15k or less

Age and consumption are not an issue.
The only thing which meets this criteria is the Nissan 370Z. However it's more of a GT car. I've owned a 350Z before (RevUp mapped DE), and that lacked urgency. Only got rid due to the tin worm.

Would consider an E9X 335i although it's not purpose built, but heard lots of horror stories. Audi S5 - 4.2 V8 fits into my budget, but the 3.0 is better on all accounts - couldn't buy one knowing I could have had the 3.0 for a few K more

What are my other options folks?

You see quite a few of these threads with so many specific requirements. The simple answer is that you probably need to compromise somewhere. Another suitable option may well exist, but it may well not quite tickle your fancy. You never know, those potential cars that you're writing off due to one single criteria could be your perfect car.

Not quite the answer you were looking for, I'm sure, but it does make sense!

The short answer is powerful sports cars are expensive and you're either not willing or unable to pay the going rate for one. (Or the ones that are within your budget are there because of reliability concerns).

What title did you want?

My Porsche 996 fits your criteria.

Think older:

GTST or GTR Skyline
Supra
M3

Surely all three would be ruinously expensive to run as a daily driver.

2005-2009 Mustang GT?
Cheap to tax £255, 300bhp from it's V8 (tuneable for little outlay) rear wheel drive, sounds great, cheap to service/repair, comfortable on long runs and can have one within your £15k budget, only downside is left hand drive smile

Some good answers. I would love the Mustang/Corvette if they were RHD.

The 370Z nismo is bit too lairy for me personally.

LHD really isn't that bad. Maybe give it a go and see how you get on. You'll need more than a 20 min test drive though. Most people would probably need a couple of weekends worth of use to acclimatise.

Surely a 335i is everything that you need and ticks all your boxes - its not the halo model as that would be the M3.

The other one i can think of is the later E500 Merc - 5.5l V8, 382 bhp and as its a NA V8 less to go wrong than a turbo'd motor.

Apart from the reliability you're well in Maserati territory there. There's a few at that budget.

Sorry what I meant was no quick saloons/saloon based coupes. E500 falls into this category as well.

Again this is a hot hatch, what I'm looking for is purpose built e.g. 350Z, 370Z, 911, Z4 etc.
