What car should i get
Discussion
So I have been doing my head in. I joined this forum a few months back when I was about to pull the trigger on an Audi S5 and I was having some thoughts on some other cars. I ended up not getting it, and now they are not available as many will surely know.
My challenge is I have a very nice A4 diesel ultra s line which is well kitted out and just over 2 years into my 4 year pcp so I am going to be losing money.
My commute is a 25 mile journey each way with 18 miles or so on motorway - rest are straight roads.
I want something fun, but that also looks good. I am also not trying to spend silly money. Ideally looking <600 pcm without a silly upfront payment given i will have to throw some into my current car. I also want something that doesnt drink a silly amount or is gonna leave me with silly bills.
I have been tempted by the A7 as its a stunner but it wont be fun I dont think. i then test drove an E300 coupe - nice but felt too much like a barge to be really fun - maybe I need to test drive again? Ideally I need back seats as will make life easier with two little kids as can use mine on family days rather than the wifes.
I was even willing to go with an old car like a porsche but I worry that I will get one that needs work and I am useless with that. Plus the safety angle of a new car is beneficial with the kids in mind.
I really need some inspiration - some advice from people who have been in a similar position.

If you were looking at an S5 then also take a look at a 3.0T Q60:

Jaguar XF, in particular the S Portfolio. Looks great, loaded to the brim with toys, 271bhp with 600Nm of torque and the awesome ZF8 transmission in RWD (switch on dynamic sport mode for great fun!) yet can still return 47.1mpg. More interesting on the road than the ubiquitous Bavarian hordes. But the cherry on top is the amazing Meridian surround sound system, 825W with 17 speakers and has full Dolby digital processing.

still doing my head in, priced up a 330d m sport brand new and it isn't cheap when you add in a few things that you couldn't really get the car without. Then I go back to the e class coupe but it just wasnt fun. The M2 is one I just cant get my head around. Interior is like going back in time and it just feels like i couldnt afford a proper car. Same as those A3 saloons, couldnt afford an A4.
Thanks for the ideas though, still looking. I think another issue is the lack of deals and cars about. Everything on long delivery times.

If I want to buy a car I go out and test drive a few, see which one I prefer and can actually afford, test drive it again mull it over and then if I like it I buy it.
If I went with the advice of a few of my friends I'd either be driving a total shed or a car I couldn't really afford.
You probably already know what you want, go test drive it and if you like it buy it.

Have you tried a Q60 they're doing some well incentivised deals obviously you'll have to drive one to see if it's for you but they represent amazing value for money. Thanks for the ideas though, still looking. I actually really like the look of the q60, so I’m hoping they drop like a stone. For a daily doing motorway and start stop traffic they might be a bit of a bargain in a couple of years. Not sure I could stomach more than £10-12k on one though.
How’s your q60 going out of interest?

I don't own an Infiniti I'm more of a Mercedes guy, but I can recognise a good deal when I see one & right now there are some cracking deals to be had on their cars right now.I actually really like the look of the q60, so I’m hoping they drop like a stone. I have supplied a few lately & a family member has a Q50 S Hybrid which they're very happy with, I drove it back from Aberdeen & have to say I was very impressed with it.
I picked up the Q60 for a client & it was a peach they were very happy with it (initially they were looking at an S5) but once they'd sat in one & saw what they got vs the S5 the car pretty much sold itself plus it's properly quick.
