Purchasing a new vehicle - car tax
Discussion
I have been looking at buying a new vehicle and when i visited my local motorpoint branch to see the options i spotted a car i liked. I will not buy it from motorpoint but when looking at the sales information sticker it stated the vehicle was £300 to tax. The vehicle is a diesel mercedes and it is on the 67 plate. Is this correct information or an error ? I was expecting it to be £30 to tax.

On a 67 plate it must have been registered after Sept 17 so subject to the current tax regime.
That means it’s either £140 per year if it had a list price under 40k, or £450 if it’s list price was over 40k.

Perhaps the sign meant it was subject to the £310 “over 40k list price” surcharge? Would it have been over that price new?
Thanks for the response and clearing that up for me. The vehicle is a E220 estate would have cost more than £40k new. I suppose this new scheme is another one of the government many ways of fleecing us further. That means it’s either £140 per year if it had a list price under 40k, or £450 if it’s list price was over 40k.
