Old diesel engine in quite a new RAV4. Silly choice?
Discussion
Further to an earlier thread I've dismissed the Cooper S and GT86 as not practical enough. Also, the Mini will go wrong and the main selling points of the GT86 (looks nice and great on smooth 'B' roads) isn't reason enough to buy it.
But I do like the RAV4. Always have. That is very practical, I've had one before, and I'm a Toyota fanboy. (I know there are supposedly better alternatives in the class but they don't appeal).
I'm giving this some very serious thought:

I think that's a well specc'd car for a fair price from a good main dealer. I have one major worry though, such an ancient engine in a fairly new car. It will be reliable but the thing was designed around 2005.
Thoughts appreciated here, and yes, I really do struggle to choose a car. (My wife would hop over to the nearest main dealer with a budget in mind, choose a car in a colour she liked, and job done...).
