7K Commuter

Evening all. I'm after a new commuter for my 50 mile daily round trip. Must be a petrol and decent fun on back roads. I'm in the NE so something around that area would be preferred. Couple I'm intrested in atm:

Volvo S60 1.6 T4 will be quicker than both those cars and more economical.

Ford Focus 1.6 SCTi will be similar to the Volvo.

Alpha Giulietta 1.4 TB is the same and more interesting.

Or if you aren't too bothered about economy then there's the BMW 650.

Liking the look of that Clio. Looks like it could be good fun.

Edit to add. I'm going to go take a look at it tomorrow, anything I should be looking out for? Going to ring in the morning and ask about service history and belt changes. Any other red flags to be aware of?

Well....I booked a test drive/viewing using the online tool for 0900 this morning, dragged my hungover arse out of bed and drove the 30 mile in the pissing down rain, only to be told the car was there but is no longer due to it being knackered. So, happy I didn't end up with a lemon, but pissed off a little that the wally's have such a crap system they are still taking bookings for test drives etc for cars that ain't even there. I was offered a newer bottom rung Clio as it's the same car, declined that offer, tossers!

Thanks for all the replies guys, some excellent suggestions. I ended up going for a Volvo C30 that caught my eye whilst I was looking at another car.
