The 20K Bentley Continental GT
Discussion
I know this won’t be news to anyone one, but holy crap, you can buy a reasonably low mileage Continental GT for under £20K.
6 litre, W12, mile munching machine for the same price as a new Focus!
As soon as I seen that my mind started racing. Why are they so cheap? Are the guaranteed to go wrong? If I bought one would it set my house on fire?
I am very seriously considering purchasing one now, keeping it for a year or so and driving through the continent in it. I’d work on it myself (to the basic extent that I can).
Someone talk me out of it, please!

It's the "what if" factor.
What if the engine goes pop?
What if all 4 discs need changing??
What if two wheels get bent after slipping on ice?
£20k down the drain!
After reading your post, I had a look on Eurocarparts. What if the engine goes pop?

"Pfft, how much could discs be for a Bentley"
"Oh! 1339.99. EACH."
Thanks lads, yeah, I'm done
My Dads is probably only worth that now bought new in 2006. Fantastic cars I have been driving for the last couple of weeks.
My only warning would be that he has taken the extended warranty out religiously on it and every time it has more than paid for itself. Most years not big stuff but have had to replace things like the gearbox which would have been pretty frightening.
Just have your eyes wide open when going in to owning one of these.

Two pattern discs for a Conti GT. £83 quid.

Pair of OEM used calipers, £336. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BENTLEY-CONTINENTAL-GT-...
The car could kill you dead but at least it won't fail an MOT for worn brakes !

I'll have a look, but didn't he know from a test drive?!
The point of his channel is that he buys a seemingly okay car then gets at least one show out of everything that's wrong with it. If he gave the vehicles a proper once over his shows would be much shorter and less popular.
That said they can be quite entertaining.

Also remember continentals are made up of the left over parts of the VAG warehouse, under the lovely exterior is mainly what they had left from vw mk3 golfs and audi a4s. I think one of the reasons they are also so cheap is most traders daren't touch them with a barge pole!
I know of two people who have had one and both said never again. Fast in a straight line but handle like s
t and spend as much time in the garage as on the road. One of the owners also owns his own garage and got sick of the bills even with his own lads saving him the constant labour costs!

The top link is for calipers, the second is to be delivered from the USA and the third is second hand. I don't think you're proving the point very well...

I run a GT Speed.
The warranty, which is £335 PCM, paid £16k for the MOT/ service last year.
And I needed tyres, which of course are not a warranty item.

t.I was looking at Flying Spurs for a family car, mainly for a laugh as you can get them even less.
I'll stop looking now.
