Looking to change car. Have posted here before but can never make up my mind!

Does anyone have experience with 2005 Audi A8s? Have seen a pretty solid looking one nearby for £5,500. Seems commensurate with other cars of that vintage.

Looking to see if there are any particular pitfalls that anyone knows about? What service items/ belts, etc. should I be looking for to have been done?

Thanks in advance!

They're very reliable the only downside being that they're a unique engine so parts can be a bit stiffer whereas the 4.2 was a more widespread unit.

Makes sense. I had been looking at the 4.2s and would have preferred one but this one ticks most other boxes.

Any idea if it is chain or belt driven?

Chain driven if it's a good one then I'd say go for it.

Out of interest is the 4.2 belt or chain?

Excellent car, I had an '03 a few years ago.

As above, some parts can be expensive, but motor factor companies cover all the main service items. Front discs were notably expensive even from ECP or similar.

Lovely engine, chain driven, I'd be looking for frequent oil changes to ensure longevity.
The only faults I had with mine were a broken boot latch and electronic handbrake not releasing on occasion.

Enjoy!

Cheers,

Chris

+1 to the regular oil & filter changes every 10k is a good compromise .
