So my Mini catastrophically failed the MOT last Thursday, popped on eBay Friday ad sold last night (it was a mega spec) who will do the work himself and head to the 'ring.

The options on the company car scheme do not seem that enticing so i have been looking for something new ...

Budget up to £10k ish.

I have a Vantage for weekend, so that's 2 seater / manual / V8 covered, girlfriend has an old Freelander that covers dogs / golf / shooting.

Quite fancy a convertible or at least a pillarless coupe (CL500 please), caveat being a 4 seater, i did have a E92 2007 330i Coupe which i enjoyed.

Rules

Under 60k, not £555 tax (one car is enough), reliable, not stupidly expensive to run, MPG doesn't really matter, no diesel, circa 8k p.a, newer than 2009 / 2010 (i am a little flexible here but i would like my phone to connect for music and something reliable).

So far i have looked at CL500, CLKx, E class coupe / cabriolet, E92/3 320, 325, 330, Jag XK.

What am i missing?

As you know your cars, anything to look out for on these? Higher mileage than I wanted but I don’t really want to spend more than £10k and I don’t think you can get a nicer car than these.

Is the coupe pillar less?

Any issues with the other engines? 1.8k?

There's nothing to worry about drive train wise, yes the coupes are pillar less I really like mine & it's going nowhere, finding a sport spec coupe will be hard to get.

Will take the time this weekend to pop and see a CLK and E Class coupe i think, i like both the CLK is just getting a tad old for a daily (the 55 / 63 saved as a weekend car would be lovely).

Also there is a nice LCI 330i convertible i would like to see.

Also i may split the budget and get another classic / daily as i only really do 5 miles e/w to work.

I like the CLK's I have to be honest I find my 63 a nicer place to (in terms of that feeling of quality) than my newer E500 coupe as for not wanting to daily a CLK they'll do it with ease & not have any bork issues either.

I'd still be dailying in my CLK320cdi Sport were it not for the impending ULEZ, I will say the change of headunit to a more modern one with everything integrated makes a big difference.

You could daily this with ease:

500

350 The downside with this & the 280 are the high road tax, whereas the 350 convertible is £315

280

The upside is all of the above leave you with funds to get a classic.

To be honest I'd be buying one of these as they're low road tax & imo a bit nicer than the models above.
