Main dealers will often do a deal, supermarkets not so much.
I would check out Carwow and Drive The Deal etc for new deals too as V40 is on runout which normally means sizeable discounts are available and low apr too.

Have they had it a week? Or 3 months?

It's easy to find out its trade price. Allow for a service, a valet, some tidying up and some profit. Offer that price.
