Hi all,
Soon, due to life logistics, I will need to be travelling between Berkshire and Manchester a few times a month.
My fiesta st is economical but a bit bouncy and lacking cruise control.
So I need suggestions for a new cruiser! Would like an e90 330d but open his suggestions!

If its only a few times a month is it worth giving up an economical hot hatch that will be comfortable enough for the trips and more fun the rest of the time than to pay out for a motorway barge? Understand the need for cruise control for speed cameras that don every motorway gantry now, but with the amount of traffic i normally end up turning cruise off as you end up undertaking half the

I did the same drive from 1997 to 2007. Basically twice a week. If radar cruise control was a thing back then I would have done *anything* to get a car with it.
I still do occasionally and now have a car with it and its basically a case of get in lane 3 set the cruise to 77mph and follow the car in front for 4 hours, if 2 or 1 opens up then move over, but that's generally only for the toll or a few bits of the M40. The M6, M42 and M62 are usually 50-70 in lane 3. Take a good book to read

Find one on LPG, mine has been running gas for the last 3 years. 300 miles costs £20

The O2 sensor fault is an easy fix, £30 part and about 40 minutes of fiddling. Bizzarely it switches off the traction control to prompt you to fix it. (Mine did that in the middle of a pretty snowy winter)
Air suspension will fail at some point but a set of replacement (conventionally sprung) struts from Amazon USA (£700 delivered) will take care of that. Otherwise they are pretty much indestructible.
LPG service is an additional filter once a year and that's about it

I'd say a Volvo S60 or V60, mines a 61 plate and comes with adaptive Cruise Control, very comfy.
I have the T4 with is a 1.6 petrol turbo engine, (I'm certain its the Ford engine same as your Fiesta ST) and on a motorway run at 75 mph with cruise control on decent MPG is easily achievable. It's no race car but I don't find it under powered at all for daily use, catches a few people by surprise..
If you go for an S60 there are some bargains about as they don't seem to hold their value like the V60
