BMW 540i xDrive Touring or Mercedes E43 Estate

Hi all,
I'm looking to change my 330d xDrive touring in the summer and still want an estate but a little bigger. Looking for a 68/19 year.

I'm planning on test driving both cars but being based in Devon, it's not the easiest to just nip to the local dealer for these cars.

Anything to look out for? Always had BMW and been happy but willing to change.

Can't stretch to the E63 unfortunately.

It'll be a case of just see which one you prefer also try an E53 if they're in budget.

Look for M-Sport Plus and Premium Plus models would be my only advice as the additional spec well worth having.

Sat in both when looking for a new company car and would say the E class is the nicer place to spend time.

As above, sit in and give both a decent 20/30min drive to see if you have a preference.

Both excellent but I prefer the interior of the E-class over the 5-series so that's where my money would go. Both are pretty colour/trim/alloy wheel dependent as to positive or indeed negative aesthetics and of course that is also a very personal thing.
