Alfa 147 buying advice

I'm looking to potentially buy my 4th Alfa. I've owned 147's and absolutely loved them and accepted them with all their faults. I've a small budget so was originally looking at Fords, Hondas but then remembered how hard Alfa's were to shift so maybe I could pick up a bargain.

However I'm seeing a lot of the 'new' face lifted models for under a grand and even models for around £700 with recent MOT/belts, does this seem about right? Considering the belts alone are probably near half that.

I must admit, a part of doesn't want to go down that rabbit hole of alfa 'Quirks' but for the amount of car you get, it's tough.

That's about where they start from but up the budget & you can land a Collezione with sensible miles for just over 1k once you've haggled.

Thank you, sounds like a decent one. Although once I start upping the budget I get carried away and start looking at other things. The only reason I came across the Alfa's as I knew they could be dirt cheap. It's just the inconsistency of selling a car for the same price you just paid for a cambelt.

Go for the 2ltr engine, its better than the 1.6 and nearly gives the same mpg, can drink oil though.
Don't go near the auto's, stick to the manual gearboxes.

I hear you but even if you paid full price (I'd expect to get that particular one for around £1100) you'll struggle to find anything as new with the mileage for the money.

90% seem to be 1.6. I've owned the

It does seem like a good price, however one thing about that ad that puts me off is they have multiple cars listed as "Sold on behalf of client so no warranty". Makes me a bit skeptical, noticed this with a few 'dealers'.

I'd say that wouldn't be an issue, just tell them that unless they're going to give you can buy the owner so you can buy it directly from the owner, then you'll be expecting standard dealer support. Which they'll give you as soon as you mention the above.

So far all the 147's I've phoned are due a cambelt, it's probably why they're priced as such. That's £400 right off the bat.
