Station car?

Want something fun to drive 4 miles a day to the station so doesn’t need to be economical. I want it to be fun (would be content taking it for a blast on some country roads on the weekend) but also fairly low to maintain and not a money pit. Also 4 seats with a decent boot would be ideal.
Currently my budget is £10k max and I have my options narrowed down to Megane Renaultsport, Honda Civic Type R, Mini Hatch John Cooper Works.
Any thoughts comments and other suggestions are welcome.

£10k? I think we have different ideas of what is cheap and cheerful That criteria leaves a huge range of possible cars.

Truly cheap and cheerful I'd be looking at Clio 182/197/200, BMW 325ti or 130i etc. Something non turbo'd and basic, fairly reliable.

£10k, dunno really, maybe a Fiesta ST, suppose to be a fun car. Abarth 500? Should get a MK3 Octavia vRS for that too.

Just buy a £500 snotter that you don't care about.

No issue with it getting dinged in the car park, no issues with it not getting fully up to operating temperature etc. Stress free, liberating. Spend the £9500 saved on something more useful.

I am in this position - I had a Mk 7 Fiesta ST for 2.5 years, sold it last year, and now want another one. I feel that 10-11k should get me a good one. Ran a snotter over the winter, but I didn't really enjoy the experience to be honest.

I had a Megane 250 cup when they first came out. It wasn't exactly fuel efficient, especially around town. I think it would do well to get 20MPG as a 4 mile each way station car... My fiesta averaged over 30 MPG (ap verified!), plus heated windscreen and furnace spec heated seats for the winter = no brainer IMHO

Have a read of a few threads regarding running costs but they're very sensible considering the performance available.

I agree although at that price the choice is pretty rancid. From £1500 - £2000 there’s some good stuff. I bought my super comfy Saab 9-5 for this purpose and I like the freedom of leaving anywhere and not caring if it gets another car park dent: My brother has a Suzuki Swift which he also loves driving instead of his XFR.

£10k is a stupid sum of money to spend on a car to go to and from the station IMHO.

It may be stupid but this will be my only car so want it to fit the part of being understated to the station but also a bit of fun on the weekends. Can't afford to have lots of cars for different occasions.

The interior is actually pretty decent & less plastic in feel than a Leon Cupra for example & it still feels pretty damn special on the bigger alloys.
