Hello,

So I'm looking to buy a F56 Cooper S and I've found a mileage discrepancy when I do a HPI check through AA. If you go on the GOV's website it shows it had an MOT in December 2018 at which it's nearly done 19,000 miles. But then in January of 2019 it's showing 'VOSA' again but the mileage is at 33,000 miles... so a 14,000 increase in a month. But the second VOSA doesn't show up on DVLA's website.

It seems to be an error but what you would guys recommend? It's really putting me off the car.

Thank you! smile

Is the VOSA entries made when the car was in for a MOT?

Where this has cropped up before it's because the "mileage" was recorded in km's. In your case, if this were true, the mileage would sit at 20485 which would seem to be about on the money?

As above it seems like a KM reading.

Yeah the VOSA entries indicate an MOT. On the DVLA’s website it states it was only MOT’d in December 2018.

I was thinking this as it would then match up. But it didn’t have another MOT a month later so why would it go down as a VOSA?

I’ve spoken to the Mini Dealer and they state it was caused by another registration that was on the car and it’s caused an error. It’s now apparently been removed so I need to keep checking to ensure it has.

It does seem that was as 20,500 miles would make a lot of sense, however why would it be recorded as a VOSA as it had its first ever MOT 1 month prior and passed?

I’ve contacted the Mini Dealer and I was told it’s an error and has been removed but now I must wait for the updated report. It’s claimed that a previous private registration on the car has caused this incorrect report on its mileage history - wether it’s fully true I’ll never know?
