If you had £1500 to spend on a car which you drive to Work every day, (only 20-30 miles a day)
Only prerequisites :
Comfy, don't want to have to be tired before getting to work
Abit of go about it when needed (140hp+)
Petrol or diesel but only had petrol in the past
Reliable as to allow spending on other cars.
What would you go for and why?
Throw some oddballs if needed

How long is 20-30 miles taking you if you are getting tired on the way?? lol
I don't think any car is that difficult to drive nowadays that it actually makes you tired from the physical effort - and I find comfier cars make me more tired, because they are quiet, take less effort to drive and lull you into a slightly comatose state on boring roads.
Why not arrive at work refreshed and feeling alert from a more enjoyable drive? In which case an MX5 is the answer, of course

Unfortunately it can take quite a while! And it has to be 4 seats as this will be the beater vs the other car which is a 2 seater! Another vote for the Mk3 Mondeo. 2.0 petrol LX are cheap, indestructible and pennies on insurance. Enough grunt to get along too. A/C, cruise control, comfortable enough. Cavernous boot too, if you need to take stuff with you.
Mazda 6 maybe? Cheap, stylish by comparison and built on Mondeo platform up until ~2012 I believe.

I’ve thought about buying a Vectra SRI when I’m in the UK for a couple of months next year. I think they are not a bad looking car (probably alone on that one).
However, a couple of things stand out, woeful performance, 0-60 and top speed, what is mid range like? (My 1986 Cavalier SRI had better performance) Interior very low rent, keep fit windows in the rear, but front seats appear very supportive.
At 1500 pounds they do seem a lot of car for the money, any known faults to look out for.

Been a long time since I drove one but I remember the 1.8 being more suited to motorway than b roads.
