Mrs Harry likes:

  • 4wd
  • 3 door, short wheel base
  • vehicles with a spare wheel on the back (Dream car is a fettled Defender, but we haven't won lottery yet).
She also is enamoured with Android Auto. I'm assuming I can retro-fit ICE to solve the android-auto requirement, but struggling to come up with a short list of recent vehicles (last 10 years) that would fit the other requirements. It seems like a really short list of possibles?

  • Toyota Rav4 (up to 2nd gen).
  • Suzuki Grand Vitara - already had a 2nd gen one, didn't like 3rd gen on test drive.
  • Mitsubishi Shogun - rare as hens teeth.
  • New Suzuki Jimmy - too small.
  • Defender 90 of some baggy description.
Oh, great pistonheads, source and fount of all wisdom - am I missing anything from the shortlist?

This is why I love pistonheads. Never knew such a thing existed. Toyota's Defender?

Loads of Android headunits on Amazon - retrofit would seem to me to be the easiest option.

You're welcome.
This one is £10k.

I've no idea how you would export it from here though.

I saw a couple out in the states recently but didn't think they were available in UK, until now (guessing most imported?). Mrs says too chunky/big.

This all day long

you can retrofit andoir auto to anything, but a JK wrangler is a proper off roader

other alternative would be the FJ cruiser already mentioned- very cool

Jeep Cherokee kj. I have an 2006 diesel model and it is a great 4wd. Selectable rwd-4wd system, spare wheel on back and short wheelbase. Good to drive in all circumstances.
