Hi,
Apologies if this isn't the right area for this topic and it needs moving.
Back story, family member took out a HP agreement on a brand new ford vehicle. The battery keeps dying whenever they leave the country for a week on business.
Just returned from another business trip and car wont start/move. Ford are claiming that new vehicle only comes with 1yr breakdown and 3yrs warranty
Is there any recourse of getting away from this HP Agreement due to the car not being reliable/fit for purpose? You don't expect a car that's 13 months old to not start if you leave it a week and require jump starting. Its happened several times now and they rely on the vehicle for getting to/from work.
Ford claim the battery is fine and its a known issue that you can't leave new cars with stop/start for this long without using them daily or you have this issue. Sounds like a sh*t excuse of, we know its a problem but cant be arsed to rectify it.
Ford garage advised should just pay for private breakdown cover which is another cop-out excuse.
Im in a Nissan which came with 3yrs warranty and 3yrs European breakdown cover as standard. I just presumed this would be the same accross the board on all new vehicles.
They are going to be leasing going forward and wanting to get out of this vehicle as soon as possible now as its just a constant headache whenever they go away for longer than a week

I know it's not answering your question - but why would stop / start make any difference at all? Stop / start only works with the ignition on - I assume your sibling isn't leaving the ignition on for a week at a time.
Sounds like the car has some kind of current drain.
ETA : It would also mean that virtually no modern car with stop / start could be left at the airport for a week or two while you went on holiday. That is obviously b

There's definitely something not right with the car.
However there is no magic bullet where you can simply make a phone call and someone takes the car away and refunds all the money that you spent.
You could complain to the garage, to Ford, to the HP company, trading standards etc but if the garage doesn't agree with you then nothing will be resolved short of going to court. You can devote hours / weeks / months of your life to this and there is no guarantee that you will get the result that you want.
From a constructive point of view I would say either take the car to a different repairer or sell it.

Is the car used regularly when the driver is actually in the country - i.e. is the car actually getting enough use to get enough charge? Would a simple solution be a trickle charger, such as a CTEK? Obviously isn't fixing what potentially is a problem, but would mean the car would start!

Given the number of cars that have stop / start now including plenty of Fords, I think we'd all have heard about this problem by now, wouldn't we? We've left our last two stop / start Nissans for weeks at a time on occasion and it's fired up first time whenever we've returned.
If it were me, I'd be straight back into the dealer and tell them to stop taking the piss! Or they could try a different dealer, Ford dealers aren't exactly thin on the ground, are they?
As for the original question, by the sound of things, they might have had the car too long to reject it now (>6 months?) so might be out of luck there.

Yes the car is being used daily when in the UK.
I agree, i've never had issues with my stop/start vehicles and assumed its just the Ford garage being arses and not wanting to take ownership
I'll tell them to start kicking up a fuss and get to the bottom of this sooner rather than later
