Undeclared replacement engine - Main dealer

Morning all.

My better half has just bought a 2016 65 Hyundai i20 1.0t from a Hyundai main dealer via 3rd party HP which we collected last night.

However, on the way home I had a look at the manual and found an invoice tucked away in there for a replacement engine (short block, was a crack in cylinder water jacket) in Jan 2018, about 10k miles ago.

None of this was declared prior to purchase and I didn't think to ask (I know, won't make that mistake in future) so just wanted to check where we stand. With these having a 5yr warranty from new I'd hope the new engine would be covered as replaced last year in the event of another failure.

I'm not looking for compensation, just feel it's a bit naughty that this wasn't declared at all, especially considering main dealer supplied. If private I'd have walked away, but as full manufacturer supplied and fitted I'm less panicked.

Ignore and get on with my life, or give the dealer a bell and bend their ear a little bit to see if I can squeeze a free service out of them?

It’s a repair. Just like new turbo or something. Don’t worry about it if it’s all fine now

Exactly this.

Would you want to be informed if the gearbox had been replaced? The clutch? Brake pads? Headlight bulb?.... Where do you draw the line?

Chances are the salesman wouldn't know anything about it. They don't forensically examine the history of every car. If its HPI clear its good to go.

You'd be a lot more concerned and rightly so if your new i20 was losing fluid from a cracked block.

If the manufacturer made the repair then it will have been done under the warranty and therefore not impact it moving forwards

Don’t want compo but maybe see if you can squeeze a free service out of them. Erm

Was the invoice zero value? I can’t recall ever having one for warranty work.
