Porsche Cayenne Turbo v BMW M6 Gran Coupe
Discussion
I posted this in the BMW section also, I hope it's OK to cross post here, sorry if it isn't.
My wife and I have, after along time of whittling things down, arrived at two cars to choose from: M6 Gran Coupe or Porsche Cayenne Turbo (2012-14ish). We have two kids but sometimes have to have seating for 5, mainly for short journeys.
Both have their strengths and weaknesses but basically I'm stuck as I love them both. I think I am leaning more towards the M6 though.
I know it seems like a stupid question as it would always be quite personal choices but thought I'd throw it out there to the good and knowledgeable folk here for, hopefully, some perspective I haven't considered.
What would you choose and why?
Thanks in advance!

I disagree -as an all rounder, family, luggage, winter weather etc the Cayenne Turbo wins. Even on interior quality the Cayenne is just better built. For looks its the GC and for speed in dry conditions I am sure its the GC but for 90% of the time you will wish you had the Cayenne. Heart Vs Head classic.

Seats 4 though unfortunately. If it seated 5 i think that is what I would go with.jv021 said:
I don't think the m6 GC will seat 5, I have a 6 series GC and the middle seat is useless.
It's fine for 7 year olds and a 5 minute journey. Often when we cart out kids around we need to take some of their friends to and from school etc. 5 minute drive at the most. You just can't do that with a normal coupe.Dr mojo said:

Yeah this is is the struggle. It's the more practical car. It's probably my least favourite word in the dictionary though.

Given your family scenario I'd go with the Cayenne for its increased practicality over the BMW.
Gran-coupes also have a shallow window line which can make passengers, especially kids in the rear travel sick - my brother-in-law sold his Mercedes CLS for this very reason.
cheers,
Chris
Thanks Chris, that is a really good perspective re window line and not one I'd considered and exactly the reason I posted here. In my case I think we would be OK but I would definitely check that out, thanks so much!Gran-coupes also have a shallow window line which can make passengers, especially kids in the rear travel sick - my brother-in-law sold his Mercedes CLS for this very reason.
