I currently drive a Mercedes-Benz B Class with the twin clutch gearbox, which I still cannot get on with after 2 years of trying. I want to go back to a medium sized estate or hatchback with a "proper" automatic gearbox, but so far have only identified the Mercedes-Benz C Class and the BMW 3 series.

Manual is not an option.

My budget is up to £9,000, so presumably something between 5 and 10 years old.

Any suggestions will be welcome.

F20/21 BMW 1 series or previous generations 3 series have ZF boxes - either of those suit?

Thank you everyone for your prompt replies and useful ideas. I shall now go and do some research so that I can make a a presentation to the boss, i.e. Mrs P!

Any more ideas will be gratefully received.
