Hi all,

I am on a budget of around £3k, and am particularly interested in a couple of VW Golfs. One is a 2006 1.6 Petrol FSI with 66k miles up for just under £2k, the other is a 2007 1.9 TDI Match with 108k miles up for just under £3k. Both have service history, MOT, both in good condition inside and out etc...

Just wondered if anyone had any opinion on which would be better, or whether to avoid them all together? Or any other suggestions within of what to get the budget?

Thank you all in advance!

It all depends on your usage & annual mileage once you give that information you'll get some good suggestions.

Thank you for the heads up. My usage will largely be social or domestic, either round town or trips of about 50 miles round trip fairly regularly. Then the odd longer distance journey every so often. I would say my annual mileage will be somewhere around 5-6k miles tops. Hope this helps, thanks again!

Would go for the petrol for around 5K Miles, although with regular long trips sounds like the diesel isn’t out of the question. Worth considering Jetta’s as well if that suits your needs, can be a bit cheaper for the same/better car as the hatchbacks are more popular.
