baby SUV type cars... which?

My girlfriend needs a new car as her current 206 is nearly 20 years old. She likes the idea of these 'baby suv' type things. We've been looking around and seen a Seat Arona with a 1 litre engine that seems to fit the bill:
This one is at a dealers locally, its 25% over UK price which is acceptable to me. Its delivery miles, registered this month.
I had looked at bigger stuff like a 3008 but the tax on cars here is insane, and you'd be looking at 50% over UK price for that. I'm open to suggestions but nothing too big/fancy or the "Portugal tax" rears its ugly head again
This is a niche I have zero interest in myself so I'm flying blind here and open to suggestions of smaller cars of this type. She doesn't care about driving fast so I'm not concerned that its only a 1 litre engine. She just likes the idea of that higher up driving position etc. Cheers.

VW T-roc? Although quite a bit more money. The Seat is basically the same car / engine but with more toys for your money (satnav etc,) I think the main version to look at is the "excellence" for more toys included. I've looked at these. I think they have about 115hp turbo engine.
I've been looking myself at dasweltauto.pt as I have a place in PT (alcobaca) and probably clearing off there this year. Prices are steep aren't they. Also considering an Ibiza or, for a bit more cash, Polo or Golf. I've driven these three but not the Arona. I think the VWs have slightly better interior that's all, otherwise much the same to drive so really only depends on the looks.
I did drive a Renault Captur which was ok too. But I won't go for one, that's just me.

Very low 20's would be doable if we're comparing like for like. She won't want to buy something years old to get it into budget...

Yeah quite a difference in price between the two , but if VW warranted two years one owner low miles etc.,

Had a CHR for a week, didnt like it. Poor rear visibility and the radio sounded crap.
Just had a Peugeot 2008 for 10 days recently. The 1200 3 cylinder motor was brilliant for its size and quite peppy. Sounded nice when revved.too. Spent a week in the Lake District (drove up from Southampton) Happily sat at 80 on the motorway and was a hoot on the lanes and hills in the lakes. Also managed an average of 41 mpg after my abuse of it. Radio sounded rather good for cheap car, but the interior plastic was a bit hard. Especially the door tops where you naturally want to lean your arm on. Much rather have one of these than the CHR or Nisssan Joke.

Nothing wrong with it, and 1 litre 3cyl engine is well thought of. Daughter has that engine in SEAT Ateca (nearer VW Tiguan in size) and it works well.
The wife nearly ended up with a T-Rok a few weeks ago, but luckily managed to persuade here into a more interesting VW.
The T-Rok is no doubt more expensive than the Seat (apart from brand & styling the two are more or less the same), but I would suspect that depreciation would be noticeable less on the VW - although this wouldn't really count for much if she keep the vehicle for as long as here last!
