Kia Picanto 1.0 Turbo
Discussion
I bought my GT-line S turbo a few weeks before Christmas. It was the dealer's demo car, and I was the first customer to drive it. 45 miles on the clock, and a decent saving off list price.
Overall it's a terrific little car, with decent performance and all the toys (including a heated steering wheel and wireless phone charging, both of which are absent on my Superb L&K 280). Better quality interior than my previous small car - a 2016 Citigo. I've only done 1000 miles in it, but so far I'm very happy with the car.
Fuel consumption is a little high for such a small car - a true 51mpg so far - although that seems to be par for the course with these tiny turbo engines. Could also do with a closer ratio 6 speed gearbox - the gaps between the first 3 gears make pootling along in traffic a little bit jerky when the engine is cold.
The engine is happy to slog away from just above tickover (once it has warmed up), with no noticeable turbo lag, and there's no real need to use lots of revs. In some ways, it feels like a much bigger turbodiesel in the way the power and torque are delivered, but without that "flatness" at very low revs.
