New Disco Sport vs XC60 vs...?
Discussion
We're looking at new cars and have decided to get one of the premium SUVs that are around the £40k mark, does anyone have any thoughts/opinions on living with the Discovery Sport and the XC60?
We've test driven both and I'd be quite happy with either, but annoyingly the new Disco Sport was announced just after we tested that so any decision won't be made until we can test drive the new one, and the local dealer doesn't know when they will be available.
At the moment the main thing swinging it is that the Volvo has the seat extenders making the bottom of the seat a little longer and the Land Rover doesn't, but that could well be an option.
Anything else similar we're missing? Test driving a Q5 at the weekend but I'm not sure about Audis after having one for a few years (fancy a change), and the wife doesn't really like the BMW image.

Volvo is a cracking motor, but don't discount the Alfa Stelvio or high spec Skoda Kodiaqs/SEAT Tarracos. The latter two are huge inside with a quality feel and are excellent value for money. The Merc GLC is also a decent car, but the Volvo is probably the better family car.

I'd say have a look at the Stelvio:

I'd also say have a look at the Jeep Grand Cherokee as well they're a very nice car & actually not much bigger than XC60

Thanks for the responses, we're in no hurry so will have a look at the other ones - Lexus was never on my list as I assumed it would be well out of our price range! Someone else suggested looking at the SEAT so I'll definitely go drive one of those.
This confused me though
"I wouldn’t look at the discovery sport or any jlr unless you want to have out of date tech, reliability issues and poor future value"
Aren't the new ones based on the Evoque so pretty modern? The interior of the Evoque certainly felt up to date and from what I've read holds residuals well.

Have a VERY long drive in a Lexus before buying. The CVT gearbox really is an acquired taste. Any attempts at making progress (as in joining a motorway) mean there's lots of noise but not a lot of movement. Don't expect good mpg because it's a hybrid. It's also got THE worst infotainment system of any car I've ever used
