Help us value our car/ another what car thread.
Discussion
We need to sell our car, and as it's a CAT D (or has it now become N?) I'm not sure how to value it best?
I will make a polite ask from the off. Please, no sniping, sarcasm or generally being a cock on this thread. Today's not been a nice day and I may just rip your head off. There is a post I've added on PH recently which will explain more, should you wish to be privy, or you can just trust me on this one!
Please also mods, if any of this is deemed anti advertising tell me and I can modify rather than pulling it. It's important that we get the cash raised.
Also, the next car criteria, thoughts?
We need to raise £5k, so maybe £2500-£3000 budget?
Estate. Big enough for three dogs, on of which big.
Economical. S can get 60mpg on a gentle drive.
Not looking too much like a jalopy. S is image conscious, and anything that looks ancient wouldn't appeal.
Not ruinous to run.
Parking sensors.
My initial thoughts.
Mondeo, maybe 2010 ish.
Insignia, ditto, at least she's familiar with it.
E61 520d. Before we bought the house we had a deposit on a 535d, she liked it. Expensive bills a problem?
Any assistance will be much appreciated.
Moderator edit: no 'what's it worth' threads please.
Damn, RE the above. Is what percentage £ drop pointers allowed?

If you were to add the current mileage to the vehicles on your profile, people could offer hypothetical values with/without Cat N for oooh, lets say an average, mainstream 2015 estate car? Damn, RE the above. Is what percentage £ drop pointers allowed?

Probably easy enough to get an idea of percentage price drop by looking at Cat N cars on Autotrader and comparing them to similar uncrashed vehicles, though?

HTH.
Fair enough.

It's a bloody Insignia mind, I can't see PH'ers queing up to buy it....
Edit to add, I think I've figured its rough value. Also, any purchase needs to be auto.

I have a 2005 Honda Accord tourer - I paid top whack of just over 3k for it, but it had less than 50k miles and a history file that showed it had been pampered. Plenty big enough, lots of kit (in Exec spec), comfy, quiet. Hits all your bases except economy - mines a 2.4 petrol auto, it likes a drink!
But a good diesel one might suit you?
PS - your news is a right bummer today, sorry to read it. If good wishes from a total stranger help in any way, you have mine!
