I’m interested in a BMW M135i, this one in particular -

Does is make sense buying a used example of one of these? What would the depreciation likely to be in say 2 years and 20k miles?
I’ve heard very good things about these cars, so any personal experience would be great what to look for and what options are a must (the car above looks quite well specced)

It is missing the Harmon Kardon stereo, but otherwise spec is fine. White with red is a popular choice.
It's good to see the 4th year service has been done as that is a £600 bill at a main dealer.
They are easy to live with and a good all rounder. They aren't the best driver's cars through. The engine is far better than anything else at this price point and just as economical as cars with smaller engines around the 300bhp power output.
It is a buyers market. There is just too many M135i and M140i. The market is going to be saturated as more of the M140i PCP deals start coming to an end. People are struggling to sell them privately.
I would say that car is already about £1000 overpriced. In 2 years time I wouldn't anticipate depreciation to be that bad. The bottom of the market has been solid for a while, but as above there is a ton of M140i going to hit the market.
It would surprise me if it went down to less than £13,500.
Some people are predicting values to firm up with the new car being 4wd and a 4 cylinder. There is just far too many for that to happen.

Looks a nice example although can’t comment on the price or depreciation - I imagine at 4 years old it’s done the bulk of it but I’d be interested why it’s had two owners over such few miles. Hopefully it’s not a lemon.
As for must haves, depends who you talk to so best make your own mind up

It’s on the Isle of Wight so I think that is the reason for the low mileage. As for must haves, depends who you talk to so best make your own mind up

Looks like a nice car and seems reasonable price wise; my local Sytner had pre-LCI cars up for not much less missing Pro Nav etc. It’s had a wheel retrim at some point.
I think they’re cracking little cars (I collect my M140 in two weeks or so) with the engine being the star of the show. The GFV on my car at four years old is £13k.

This is my old car, I bought it from new and sold it 14 months ago to the chap now selling it.
It was well looked after in my ownership and had (iirc) circa 12k on it when I sold it.
It was used as a second car and so not very often I had the kids in it (although not babies, aged 8+ at the time).
The guy who bought it also seemed very much a car person and kept it top notch so I have had no doubt it has been equally well looked after.
It didn’t have any issues in my ownership that needed warranty other than corroding exhaust tips which is normal on these cars (had new tips fitted).
Having Harmon Kardon in my current car (a M2 that replaced this car) I can say the Advanced Audio wasn’t a great deal worse tbh! Wouldn’t let that put you off, the HK also has an amp issue and they tend to go regularly (had mine replaced in the M2).

There wasn’t any gear box whine when I had it. It’s really reassuring to hear that’s it’s been a well looked after car. It does look very clean.

I think you can extend it/take out a new one, you’d have to ask what the situation is with BMW to be sure.
Extending the warranty is a really good idea; it shouldn’t be an issue so long as it’s been serviced in accordance with the schedule. I took out a BMW warranty on a 1 series I had purchased from an auction and it turned out to be a very good decision! Never had any quibbles when I made a claim(s).
