Anyone on here with a Cupra Ateca?

I can’t decide wether to get an suv or a more sporty car for a better ‘driving experience’ when I fancy it. Going by video drives of the Ateca it looks like it would provide a satisfactory amount of both worlds. Any experience of them from here?

£1100(ish) up front £368pm

Tempted to pull the trigger, got an X5 itch but Ateca seems like it would be more manageable and more ‘fun’ option, newer therefore better toys, however slightly more expensive than an X5.

No sorry the x5 would be a financed used car! I meant more expensive as in cheaper OTR price obviously being an older and used car.

And the lease deal on the cupra is including VAT, you can actually get it on a 1 month up front which would work out at £391pm @10k.

I've ordered one for September delivery on a 2 year lease, sat in one in the showroom the other day and was considerably impressed with it. Just playing the waiting game now.

Why not spend less money and buy a better handling, faster, just as practical Leon Cupra ST 4Drive - unless you really need the higher driving position

The Ateca would satisfy an SUV desire I have. I have been concentrating on X5s but then I get an urge to look at a 440i for the better hooning potential. So I’m looking at the Ateca as a kind of compromise between the 2.

This is something else I see over and over on here.

How is an estate Leon more practical at parking?
No one needs the higher driving position but lots prefer it.
I'd prefer to be up high over having to drive an estate everyday.

Wirth respect how can an estate be LESS practical when parking - seriously stumped as to how an SUV is any easier to park than a similarly sized estate car

If you care to look at the OPs original post he has stated does not know whether to go SUV or a car for a "better driving experience" - I was merely pointing out that an estate with the same drivetrain as the Cupra Ateca would deliver a "better driving experience" without an impact on practicality

I just always find estates more difficult to park due to the extra length (estate leon for example is 20cm longer than ateca).

Perhaps your reply wasnt in the same vein as most, but the amount of comments that say along the lines of "why the hell would you consider an SUV over an estate" have me shaking my head daily. i see people consider SUVs and dont estates, and maybe its because an estate looks more compromised in its looks, but the only estates i would consider would be a c63 amg or maybe an audi rs model.

its all only my opinion of course!

A better "driving experience" than what?

I was given an Ateca when my previous Leon Cupra 290 went in for a service. Its wasn't a car I'd ever consider "hooning", nor was it a car that inspired me to drive it just for the pleasure of driving it.

I too thought hooning in a 440i would be good so I got one... great cars. Silky engine, lovely power delivery and properly fast. Go on - get one.

Go and drive one - you won't buy it...............

I have a JCW Mini - but need something bigger for bikes and kit (Triathlon) - 4x4 suits parking in fields etc - went to drive an Ateca - and it's just dull. I mean reasonably quick in a straight line - but it's just a Seat crossover with a bit more power, you would never drive it for the sake of driving - and if that's the case you might as well get a much much cheaper normal model.
